My guest today is Michael Stangeland. He published a sci-fi novel earlier this year called Junkworld: The Ballad of Leroy Brown. We talk about this a little, but we mostly concentrate on the desire to create things in the first place, how it often starts young, and how a writer manages to get things finished.

133. A New Method for Generating Ideas
My guest is Robin Landa, who holds the title of Distinguished Professor at Michael Graves College of Kean University in Union, New Jersey. She’s also a “creativity guru” who advocates for industry inclusion and equity, and provides scholarships for meritorious students or students in need. Robin’s expertise is in creative advertising, branding, graphic design, and social media. Her new book, just published in November, is called The New Art of Ideas: Unlock Your Creative Potential. This is a followup conversation to episode 58 last summer, and again she was a joy to talk to and a font of knowledge. We talk about her new ideas framework, solving the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals, and how to make the best-shaped pasta.
#58: design, creativity, and the three g’s
Robin Landa holds the title of Distinguished Professor in the Michael Graves College of Kean University in Union, New Jersey. She’s also “creativity guru” who champions her students, advocates for industry inclusion and equity, and provides scholarships for meritorious students or students in need. Robin’s expertise is in creative advertising, branding, graphic design, and social media. Her 26th book, called The New Art of Ideas: Unlock Your Creative Potential, will be published this fall. I thoroughly enjoyed talking to her. She is intelligent and engaging, but also modest and very down to earth. Not to mention her comprehensive knowledge of her field and her ability to write about it clearly.
